Canstruction 2021
Oct 29th, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 1:30 pm
Discovery Park of America is hosting the 2021 Canstruction Jr., on Oct. 29, 2021. Canstruction Jr. is open to middle school and high school students.
Teams will receive $500 from our sponsors to purchase canned goods to build their pre-designed and practiced sculptures. Teams are allowed to have can drives and fundraisers to purchase more cans.
On Oct. 29, 2021, teams will bring their cans to Discovery Park to assemble their sculptures in a 8’x8′ area within a 3-hour time frame. The sculptures will be judged and awards presented. The sculptures will remain on exhibit in Dino Hall through November. Participating teams will receive a free lunch.
The cans will be donated to Chimes for Charity, Helping Hands, Matthew 25:40 and Reelfoot Rural Ministries.
Registration for Canstruction is now closed.
Sponsored by Carol and Bill Latimer, Ben E. Keith Foods, Westan Insurance Group and Forcum Lannom Materials.
Canstruction® is an international charity competition where architects, engineers, students, and others compete by building structures out of canned food. At the end of each competition or exhibition, the food is donated to local hunger relief organizations. It was founded in 1992 by the late Chri Melillo and her colleagues from the Society for Design Administration. The first official competition was held in November 1993. Since then, over 50 million pounds of food have been donated. More information, including a list of other exhibits and events, can be found at www.canstruction.org.
