Discovery Park will host a series of activities and programs in our highlighting subjects ranging from mass extinctions and natural climate patterns to man-made climate change and environmental issues. 

The globe room in the Natural History Gallery: 

11 a.m.      “The Earth in 15 Minutes or So”

This lesson will serve as a brief explainer for the major events in the history of planet Earth, from birth to today (and beyond). 

Noon  |   Meet the Grounds Director at the Greenhouse

Meet John Watkins, Discovery Park’s grounds director, and discover the past, present and future of the park’s landscaping.

1 p.m.    |    “Mass Extinctions on Planet Earth”

This program will go over mass extinctions in Earth’s history and our role in an ever-changing web of life on Earth.

2 p.m.     |   “Great River Road Signage Ribbon Cutting at Discovery Park’s Arrival Circle”

Celebrate Discovery Park’s designation as a Great River Road Interpretive Center with a community ribbon cutting.

11 a.m.-3 p.m.    |    Tennessee Room

Explore hands-on activities designed especially for young learners and families. Dive into interactive experiences that highlight key aspects of our changing climate—from the impact of human activity on coral reefs to the importance of Earth’s ozone layer. While these activities are tailored for younger guests, visitors of all ages will discover something new and meaningful.
