This semester’s Historical Theater Academy production is The Last Twelve Days of John Wilkes Booth. This production will cover several historical events that took place before his death– including Booth receiving medical attention from Dr. Samuel Mudd, hiding within a pine thicket for four days, and his final stand at the Garrett Family Farm.

Historical Theater Academy is a unique program designed for students in grades 6-12 that takes place at Discovery Park of America. Academy participants receive instruction in multiple aspects of theater and historical research and then stage a performance of the original work they create. In addition to gaining experience in numerous disciplines including acting, set design, costuming, writing and historical research, students learn collaboration skills.
Students in grades 6-12 are encouraged to join us at Discovery Park for this wonderful and unique opportunity to learn and grow in the museum theater world. Classes begin on January 09, 2023, and are held each Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Discovery Park of America. The final performance will be on May 06, 2023.
