Technology Showcase

Discovery Park’s “Technology Showcase” traces the evolution of four technologies we often take for granted today—written language, recorded sound, recorded images and digital communication. Artifacts related to all four technologies are on display, allowing visitors to trace the evolution of each technology over time and to see the connections between technologies and developments that may otherwise seem unrelated.

The Gutenberg Press on display in the Technology Showcase is a full-scale, fully functional reproduction.  It was built by Pratt Wagon and Press Works of Cove Fort, Utah. Included with the printing press were plates containing the story of Gideon from Judges Chapter 7.  These plates are on display with the press and can be used for printing demonstrations.
