Discovery Park of America Names Kathy Davis Volunteer of the Year and Announces 2025 Volunteer Information Meeting

UNION CITY, Tenn. (April 16, 2025)Discovery Park of America has announced that Kathy Davis has been named the museum and heritage park’s 2024 Volunteer of the Year. Davis, a long-time supporter and volunteer, has dedicated the past seven years to helping Discovery Park fulfill its mission of inspiring children and adults to see beyond.

Originally from upstate New York, Davis has made Union City her home for most of her life. After retiring, she began looking for a meaningful way to spend her time and quickly found her place at Discovery Park.

“The opportunity arose to volunteer at Discovery Park of America, and I immediately knew that’s what I wanted to do,” said Davis. “My favorite part is watching the faces of our first-time guests, especially the little ones. It will never get old seeing that joy and excitement. I am proud to be a small part of this gem in Northwest Tennessee and helping our guests see beyond.”

In recognition of Davis’s contributions and to encourage others to join the volunteer team, Discovery Park will host a Volunteer Information Session on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, from 1–2 p.m. in the Tennessee Room. The session will provide an overview of the many ways volunteers support the organization, from greeting guests and assisting during special events to contributing to educational programs and daily operations.

“Volunteers like Kathy are the heart of Discovery Park,” said Scott Williams, president and CEO. “She embodies the spirit of hospitality, curiosity and service that makes a visit to Discovery Park so memorable.”

Kathy was recently recognized at Discovery Park’s annual volunteer dinner. Find more photos from that event on Discovery Park’s Flickr gallery: https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjC4ZZh.
